About Muga
Muga is more than a place to stay. It is Chris and his family’s home, a working farm and a meeting place — where guests can experience everyday Ugandan life from the inside.
PRESERVE EDUCATE EXPERIENCE
A family home
Guests are welcomed personally.
A working farm
Food, coffee and nature are part of daily life.
A local connection
Real people, places and stories.
A base in the west
Explore Western Uganda with context.
Muga brings preservation, learning and experience together. Guests do not only hear about life in Western Uganda: they step into it, understand it and help give it value.
Experience creates understanding → understanding encourages care → care helps preserve
Leave as family.
What you eat, what grows in the garden, the people you meet and the landscape around you all belong to the same story.
At Muga, guests do not stand at a distance. You can walk through the garden, learn how coffee grows, help prepare a meal, hear what is happening in the community and ask the questions that turn a visit into understanding.
The result is small-scale and personal: a place to slow down, take part and see Western Uganda through the people who live here.
How can visitors experience the reality of village life — while tourism creates value for the family, the community and the land?
Chris Mugasha is a journalist, development worker, farmer and nature lover. At Muga, those worlds come together. He shares the stories behind what guests see, connects them with people they would not easily meet on their own and helps everyday activities become meaningful experiences.
Not a staged cultural visit — but a warm invitation into what is already happening.
Nothing at Muga Eco-Village stands on its own.
The farm is not a collection of separate attractions. Each part supports another.
BEES & BLOSSOM
Bees help pollinate coffee, fruit and other crops across the farm.
GARDEN & TABLE
What grows around the home can become part of the meal guests share.
PONDS & ANIMALS
Fish ponds and farm animals are part of everyday work and food production.
GUESTS & COMMUNITY
Visitors bring curiosity, conversation and direct local value.
Experiences at Muga are not performances created for tourists. They grow from the farm, the family and whatever is happening around Muga that day.
Walk the farm
See coffee, fruit, fish ponds, animals and the work that connects them.
Use your hands
Pick, roast, harvest, cook or help with something that is happening.
Share the table
Food becomes a way to talk, learn and spend unhurried time together.
Explore with context
Chris opens doors and explains the stories behind local places and traditions.
A cup of coffee, a walk to the market or a meal cooked together may feel simple. But each experience can create a real exchange — and help tourism contribute directly to the place you visit.
For the family
A guest stay creates local income and makes family knowledge, work and hospitality valuable.
For the community
Experiences involve people and places outside the usual tourism circuit.
For the land
Farming, biodiversity and local knowledge become reasons to keep investing in the landscape.
Still growing. Still learning.
Always personal.
Muga is not a polished resort where every moment is scripted. It is a living place: plans change, seasons shape the farm and some of the best moments happen because Chris knows what is going on that day.
Not staged. Real.
