Sleep in the Village of Birds
Stay in simple, personal cottages tucked into the gardens of Muga Eco-Village. Each cottage carries the Runyankole name of a bird and invites you to notice the living landscape around you — from the first calls of the morning to the movement between the trees.
Muga Eco-Village and the Village of Birds
Rwakanyonyi means “Village of Birds”. The name belongs to a landscape where birds, trees, gardens, crops, insects, water and people are all connected.
Over time, changes to that landscape have made space for birds less certain. Muga Eco-Village wants to help make room for life again — not by separating nature from people, but by showing how both can thrive together.
That is why every cottage carries the Runyankole name of a bird. The names are more than decoration. They invite guests to notice what lives around them, learn how each bird belongs to the wider eco-system and understand why its habitat matters.
During your stay, you may begin to recognise a call, a colour or a movement between the trees. A small moment of attention becomes part of Muga’s larger purpose.
RATES PER COTTAGE
The cottages share the same price and the same warm Muga Eco-village atmosphere. Each carries the Runyankole name of a bird, together with its English and scientific name. The names help keep the relationship between language, place and nature visible throughout your stay.
